Careers

Senior/Principal Scientist

We are currently offering a fantastic career opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced antibody discovery/development scientist to join Antharis Therapeutics, a pre-clinical company based in San Diego. The company is committed to the discovery and development of novel immunotherapeutics (monoclonal antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates) for an array of disease states. The approaches for antibody discovery, including hybridoma technology, aim to streamline the development of lead candidates for entering the clinic in an expedited fashion.

The individual selected for this position will be responsible for antibody discovery and development programs. These include intellectual input and decision-making on protein targets to be pursued, development of immunogens and immunization strategies, utilization of hybridoma technology, and antibody validation in vitro and in vivo.

This position requires a strong, highly motivated, and fully independent scientist who will use a hands-on approach on the bench to develop therapeutic antibodies. In alignment with the company’s leadership, this individual will lead the immunotherapeutic product development efforts and, consequently, will have significant intellectual input in the direction of the asset pipeline. A strong work ethic and successful development of lead candidates will provide this individual with a potentially life-transforming professional opportunity.

Essential Job Functions

  • Based on unmet medical needs, propose/identify and carry out research on novel targets.
  • Custom monoclonal antibody discovery and development of therapeutic candidates.
  • Lead the effort of discovering therapeutic antibodies with hybridoma and B cell cloning platforms. More specifically, select and design immunogens during the monoclonal antibody discovery phase, set and implement immunization strategies, and generate, screen, and evaluate hybridomas and B cell candidates.
  • Coordinate and carry out in vitro and in vivo tests to probe asset efficacy.
  • Ensure rapid and high-quality project advancement.
  • Responsible for the leadership over each project and day-to-day bench operations, including target identification and discussions, developing project plans, carrying out experiments from conception to asset development and testing, and controlling project execution to ensure completion of projects to scope, schedule, and budget.

Position Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with 5+ years of post-doc or corporate antibody discovery and development experience.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the full workflow of therapeutic antibody discovery and development.
  • Hands-on experience developing monoclonal antibody therapeutics using hybridoma and/or single B cell platform.
  • Track record of leading biologics discovery efforts to advance pre-clinical projects, ideally to the clinical stage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert in ELISA techniques, flow cytometry, cell culture, immunoassays, antibody purification, and mouse handling, including immunizations, spleen removals, hybridomas, etc.
  • Full expertise in immunization strategies and characterization of biomolecules of interest.
